| Hi every one, my name's Eric. I go to Mason and I read about you guys through the Cars for a Cure meet that's being hosted at Mason, my friend Rama also told me about this club. I drive a 2004 VF48'd wrx that is currently running a modified cobb vf39 ots map, hoping to get a dyno tune at Mach V in the near future.
I'm also trying to get into autocross, but I don't know where to begin, so any pointers would be much appreciated. |

| Welcome Eric. Good to see you on here man. Theres a thread in the events section about track days so check that out. Also, Dave (ArkansasDave) is another relatively new guy on here from our area with a sweet subbie who gets some of his work done at Mach V. I think he said he just got his engine built by them or just that he plans to go there for the dyno tune (not sure which one so Dave will have to confirm). And he's a good guy to talk to about taking your car to the track. You'll see he's posted in that track days thread I mentioned.
Enjoy the forums.
And the event is called "Cars For a Cause" (not cure) |

| Welcome Eric, my name is Chris. If your looking at beginning to autocross, look around your area for autocross tracks. Summit point usually hosts track days where you are able to have a teacher ride with you and tell you how to improve and all that. Also, if you hold out until the Cars for a Cause event, there will be an AWD dyno for pretty cheap. I'd have to confirm but I think it's $50 for AWD 3 runs. |

| Good to see another subie on here. My name is Dave. I have a 2004 rs that is wrx swapped and a built hybrid motor. I'm getting tuned at Mach v on the 22nd. He has tuned my car before and ran great for 20k no problems. I am gonna start looking into autox soon cause I mainly do track days. Look at trackdaze.com and summit point hosts their own. I'm pretty knowledgeable on subies so if you have questions feel free to pm me and maybe we can meet up. I'm in fairfax so pretty close to mason. I'm trying to get people to go karting on Saturday afternoon let me know if you wanna go. |

| They weren't good pictures anyway haha. I don't have my car on campus to take better ones, but I can tell more about what I've done to my car. Mod List: -VF48 turbo -2007 sti intercooler -Turbo XS Stealth back exhaust (stock muffler) -DW 565cc injectors -Walboro fuel pump
When I get a dyno tune I'm planning on getting a new axle back, boost controller, and maybe a trial bov. I'm at 18.5 PSI as of right now and plan on at least 22PSI when I get a tune, what are your guys opinion on bovs?

| Stick with recircle bov, and make sure its a good quality one. TurboXS is known to eventually leak. Thats all I can really say on the subject.
That sounds like a pretty good car. Not sure about your knowledge about subies so please don't take offense if I sound like Im talking to you like your a retard. I made some mistakes in modding my car and wanna help people from not making the same ones. Also 22PSI might be outside that turbos efficiency range. But remember a tdo4 at 18.5 PSI is not the same as your vf48 at 18.5 psi. I would get a boost controller before the tune and I guarantee Dan will suggest the same thing. Before my new motor I was at 20 PSI on my 16g and made 272whp at mach v. I had bigger injectors and a fmic but about the same mods. Dan knows what he is doing and he will get a good tune for you. It was a lot of fun. If you are thinking about tracking then look into upgrading brake pads and lines and fluid. Then a good set of wheels and tires.
Hope this info helps |

| Thanks for the info Dave. Yea I'm not quite sure on the limits of my turbo, but I said 22 because I've seen people from NASIOC run 25PSI on a vf48 so I figured 22 was a good amount haha. I did upgrade my brakes aready, I have stoptech performance street pads all around.

| Sweet thats good that you know about nasioc, most answers can be found there if you know how and where to look. A lot of time you need a flame suit cause they be dbags over there.
My first time at the track I had stock brakes and pads and fluid and by the end of the day my pads were melted, and the fluid was boiling. As the day went on the brake pedal went mushy and took away confidence and fun. I had to brake earlier and was hesitant to accelerate through the whole straight.
I got front brembos hawk hp+ pads and motul rbf600 brake fluid and was out braking a lot of people in my group the next time around.
What wheel/tire setup are you on? |
