hey guys anddddd gurls,

well we have been talking a lot in the past about doing a charity event. so let's do something about it. can we get a vote on what you all would like to do. get some ideas going, so we can go ahead and plan things out. here are a few that came up....pls vote and give your feedback!!!

1.(maisa) Halloween- " well i was thinking we could
do a charity event costume party! with like other crews too! everyone
pay like 5 dollars to get in and we have raffles and stuff all the money
we make can go to charity and everyone will have a good time dressed
up and stuff"

2.(me) Thanksgiving- i was thinking we could do a food drive, or even donate our time at a homeless shelter.

3. (me) X-mas- TOY drive for kids....

i think if we can organize the halloween costume party in time (contact raffle prize providers, figure out venue, find a DJ or utilize dj murfff for auto playlist? lol), we should do that!

the downsides would be that we're in a time crunch and i dont know if the event will be huge. this may or may not make it difficult to raise enough gross amount of $ to donate, since liquor (and maybe venue) cost $ and if there aren't enough people paying entrance, ya know.. but i def think it'd be fun if it is successfully organized in time.

im down for the later holiday drives/community service, but remember that those two times are when the most canned food drives, soup kitchen volunteering, etc. happen when the other 50 weeks out of the year the same people need the same help. not saying that's reason NOT to do it during the holidays, and not saying i think we aren't gonna do other stuff during other seasons. just sayin why the halloween thing would be cool too

i think that if we get enought people interested in helping out with the halloween event we can do it! we have a lot of people interested in the crew already..so it wouldnt hurt to reach out to the others as well..everyone is down to party..especially if we can accomplish something good out of it!!!!





and ya there will be A LOT of people will be doing the same thing! maybe we can do a team polar bear plunge or something!!!! that'd be cool! and its for a good cause http://plungemd.com/2012-Docs/2012%20Plunge%20Pre%20Brochure.pdf that is on the 28th of January! pretty much after all the holiday season...and its a HUGE festival where there is a lot of media involved..we could make shirts and stuff just for the plunge! just an idea!!

the one big issue i have with the holloween thing is the drinks. you have to have a license to serve beer and liquor to the public. we could get sue if something happens to them.

and trish is right we should be doing food drive more often then just thanksgiving. cuz they doooo need help though out the year. now I am more geared towards the toy drive for kids. hell we could even donate to a hospital for kids or to the red cross or something.

I don't wanna get all religulous, but are you opposed to networking out with a church? Everything you stated above (minus the party) could be magnified if we do it with a church. They have resources that we don't have and we have the ONE resources that they are SERIOUSLY lacking; willing volunteers.

We could do our own thing for the party.

i would be down with that. i mean i really want to do a donation drive for cancer in the spring time...maybe a carwash, and was hoping that we could work with a church on that one. hell if they are willing to let us host a car event in a big parking lot...that is what i am shooting for =)

these are just ideas! nothing is set in stone! we are open to suggestions on everyone of these events! church would be cool

The church parking lot capacity is over 550+. I used to host weekend meets until people starting getting stupid (long story). Still till this day no other weekly meet has matched what we did last year.



This one of our slow nights maybe 150-175 cars. Our biggest night held 363 cars. And we averaged around 200-225 cars every Saturday night.

sean...would you be able to work something out with the church for a cancer drive?? i think if we get a few vendors to take part to the raffle, charge ppl to enter, dj ect. we could really do something big. me and sleepy along with a few of us had been effected by cancer in the past. and we really want to do something to help out. if the church would like we could take a small % of everything and donate to them too.

im really hoping that we could get the whole DMV involved in this event. taht is why i want to start planning now for spring. this could be the 1st meet of the year=)

I like all the ideas. I am a huge fan of the toys for tots. I did it a few years ago for work. And I like the Halloween idea if we drive to a childrens hospital and bring decorations and candy as well.

I'm an associate pastor at the church so yes, I could arrange something if you give me advanced notice of the date. The church can also aid in promotion and advertising. The DJ may have to make some compromises, but the type of music I am into most people don't mind the compromise.

Not saying he has to play our music, we just have to omit any song that profanity, promoting the use of drugs/alcohol/sex, etc. But it's easier to just play our songs then go through all of his.

**edit** Actually it we best if you let the church run the music. My place has a 5 hour playlist.

as far as date goes...i really wanna shoot for early early spring time. that way we dont have to rush things. cuz i think nov might be too cold for ppl to want to be outside for hours.

I like the holloween Idea but I dont think we can generate enough profit to consider as donation, we can do it for the club though just for fun and what paul said we will be responsible for this kind of event so alcohol is not a good idea.

Leaning more towards toys for tots and thanksgiving and children's hospital

i am down to just have a holloween party.

but as far as donation goes...im down for the toy run....wounded worrier project. plus we should start planning for the cancer drive in the spring time =)
