yeah give robbie my info. I just know some HTML code and my boy knows a whole lot more... My boy corey built the website for teamsolo.net & teamabsoluteva.com and than a whole bunch of other small stuff for small businesses. I would need to work with robbie and all UNclassified members to build it from the ground up for pictures, info, videos - etc etc.

Corey and I would build a development website called something like http://dev.unclassified.com and would make it only viewable by invitation only so all members could see progress as well as take a final vote if they like the look before we publish it (GOES LIVE).

Again just throwing the feeler out there and trying to help in any way possible. LMK

Nope. this is my time & contribution to build the website. WE DON"T have anything to do with th emonthly fees of your internet name/ip and server/maintenance fees that you are doing with fastserv.com (who HOSTS your website)

I need to get with Robbie on who is paying for the yearly cost of the internet/domain name and go from there. Im talking to my boss about hosting the website here so I can update it frequently and probably get rid of the montly cost of hosting.

(info = to host a website, the domain name/internet name has to be bought yearly. it also has to be hosted at a server location monthly which right now unclassified.com is hosted at fastserv.com.) Now usually you can buy a 'out of the box' template website for very cheap and customize it. Corey and I would be building the website from CODE up.



I would need to get with dumpd_hyrbid for pictures/video uploads.
I would need info from the entire club on what to put on and what not to put on. BUT I THINK IN MY OPINION - "cars for a cause" on a www.unclassified.com website with a flyer & Information on the cause WOULD GIVE you more spotlight, attention and hopefully sponsors $$$.

well i post a link to this thread on robbies wall. so i hope he sees it and jumps on soon man. as far as getting the info and what not. i think if this all goes as you planned. and everyone is down for it. then we could just set up a lil meeting and get this moving forward asap bro...

Well lets not jump ahead of ourselve... I need to speak with robbie or whomever to find out why the website is on fastserv and monthly cost. Then go from there to see if there is a development page to add codes, images, etc too or where I would locate that server and remote to it.

Once all that information is given and Corey & I know how/where to develope the website - I will create another post on a event for website design. Also a good way to introduce myself.

lol sorry I'm just now seeing this. extremely busy day at work today. Randy who purchased the domain has just passed onto me all the login info but i haven't had a chance to check everything out yet. possibly tonight but more likely all day tomorrow I will look at it in more detail.

but if anything I would say migrating this forum over to vBulletin based forum is somewhat of a higher priority. This forum was built as a temporary home in the early stages of the club. Myself and others would really like to move over to a better format and need to really do that before we get an overwhelming number of signup over here. Know anything about setting up a vBulletin based forum? I need help with MySQL :/

Randy I think was the one who originally purchased the domain and by the looks of it, it is paid monthly for the lowest offered hosting services which is 1GB of data and 50GB of bandwidth at $9 month. Has database capabilities (mySQL) and PHP and what not so pretty sure the website itself can be hosted on fastserv. However if you have better options please share

Update: Randy informed me the domain and service is paid in full for 2 years =0

well if your on fastserv for 2 years... just stay there and migrate over later.



I am a beginner in the SQL language but i know some people who can design it. Now you say the priority is to move this forum out of forumnation and into a vbulletin (Example ; http://www.vadriven.com/forums/ which runs off vBulletin)

Well to run off a vBulletin will better UNclassified in many many ways. Only one catch - Price to get a vBulletin in pretty expensive ($150-$300). Building it would be the same as building this forum site here...

Do you have expierence building a forum site or help build this one ? I can talk to some people tomorrow and see if I can get the vBulletin template/interface for cheap.

You can then migrate the forum over to www.unclassified.com once built or however you want to do it.

Now the website itself is already on fastserv & its being hosted. check your IIS and see if you see the published information for what is on the site already (Header, Video, Text and a link) .... If it has the info in the IIS - You can build your site through fastserv. Just let me know

Well if you built this - vBulletin would be a snap. Let me talk to my boy and see if has a license he could share or get at a lower $.

Robbie - can you make sure fastserv or wherever your going to host the forum has SQL & php (up to date firmware&updates).

and yes the server has mySQL (5.1.56) and php (5.3.10)

I'm sure we can figure it out but...how would we go about migrating users from here to there? this is where i wish i knew more about databases
