So heres what we need to respond to in order for us to have the parking lot free for us to reserve:

Restrictions

The university's colleges, schools, departments, centers, institutes
and recognized student organizations are afforded opportunities to use
resources that are not generally available to the outside community. In
the case of events, this means priority for space, equipment and
services is given to the university community. In addition, fees for use
of space, equipment and services may be reduced or in some cases
waived.

The privileges available to the university community
are not meant to be extended to outside organizations unless there is a
genuine cooperative effort or partnership between an outside
organization and the university and a benefit to the university for
extending these privileges.

I thought the best way to go about
doing this would be to write a letter demonstrating the benefit this
event would have for Mason and our community. Please let me know what
you all think.

i know ive been ghost for the last couple of days. but thanks jay for getting this started.

so what we need now is someone to write a good letter so we can forward it to GMU. is anyone up for the task???

it's really not that hard to write, trish is a good writer ,we just need to come up with a good proposition to convince mason. Would good cause be good enough? lets brainstorm everyone!

if you guys give me some good points i can write up a draft!

- that by GMU letting us use the lot...it will reflect the university in a positive way.
- that all the funds made from this event will all be going to local foundation and to a local hospital.

-the intention is to bring all car clubs, car enthusiast together and create unity to make a difference in people's lives who has cancer and support the cancer research foundation.
-GMU will be recognized for supporting charity work

fyi..im calling around for porta potty's right now...and we are looking at $80 per unit after taxes. how many do yall think we will need?? 5 or 6???

word, i inquired a quote for best pricing this morning but waiting for a call. I was gonna ask the same thing, how many unit. i think 5 should be enough. are we allowed to be food vendor as well?

yea we will have to find some food vendors as well. i think sleepy said his aunt does fairs so that might be our one azn spot. but we will have to find something that is more of a comfort food to others.

first we have to lock in the reservation for GMU parking. We need more input so maisa can work on the draft

yea...im really thinking about getting the non-members involved since we havent heard back from our official members yet... -____-

we need a list of things that need to get done so we can knock it out one at a time rather than working around it at the same time. we can maximize profit at this event, we can sell drinks water, sodas, chips? i can buy all that at costco or something.

i need a team for this event....so that we can just deal with the ppl in the team as a close group. rather then a open group. plus this will be a good way for some of the non-members to step up to the plate on a big event.

and i also think a cool name for this event is a must....we could add it to the trophies too.

guys i am looking for a team of 5-6 ppl, both non and official members. you will have to give up a lil of your time and dedication to help me move this cancer drive forward. i know its not till April of next year. but there is a lot to be done before then. theres a lot of planning that needs to be done. you will have to be willing to give up a lil of your time to help out, try your best to make it out to meetings and have to drive to makes this work.

As for what would be beneficial for GMU, what if a portion of the donations were made in GMU's name?

I've been thinking of names but the 3 good one's I had are already things. To possibly give you ideas or inspiration here were my ideas:

1. CancerFest

2. CancerThon

3. AutoPalooza

None of these names are things in VA but regardless they do exist.

Name ideas

-Slammed For Cancer (also could be another contest/trophy)
-UnCANCERfied ( kinda corny but only way could figure out to use the club name)
-Beatin' Cancer off the line

ooh and im maisa's friend btw i introduced my self way back n aug...but ive been mia for a while because i have been on deployment but ill be back to the states in the upcoming weeks soo ill be around figured i could help with ideas

^ yup, mason's car club is exactly who we are working with for the event and what we are going to put as the "university" partner.

good ideas for the event name, guys!!!! but let's also be careful so ppl don't think we're celebrating cancer (e.g. cancerfest)... rather, we're fighting it lol
